I am fascinated with shapes. (I'm fascinated with color too, but that's besides the point.) I found my great sequence of shapes in the girls bathroom. I wasn't necessariy looking for great shapes, I just happened upon them. On the door of one of the stalls are fasened an abnormally large number of washers and bolts to hold up the stall door. These bolts and washers, probably put in so the door wouldn't fall crashing to the floor, were most likely installed in no particular order and with no particular attention to what they looked like. However, these bolts and their washers make me think of my sketches. The ones I make when I'm bored in class. Maybe it's just a coincidence that the washers move in size from largest to smallest, maybe the janitor only had a large one on hand when he/she needed to fix the door. Whatever the case, I happened upon these shapes and came to the realization that there can be some rather attractive shapes in life outside the art world, even if it's in a girls bathroom.
